Another of the Front-line Services, to be considered, now - following on from previous policing theme - as the building seen here was once the Kirkley fire station. A good close-up of a section of Kensington Gardens, which was officially opened to the public by the Lowestoft Borough Council on 8 June 1922. Aimed at use by local people and holidaymakers alike, the area soon became a popular attraction, with its overall layout and thoughtful planting - the latter taking account of the exposed cliff-top site and the salty content of onshore winds. / Kensington Gardens is a park located on Kirkley clifftop, in the heart of the Lowestoft seafront. Within the park there are 4 public-use tennis courts, 2 bowling greens and a boating lake. / 22 September, 2023 |
